How to Scan Floorplan with LiDAR on iPhone or iPad
To bring your actual room to Room Arranger, you can use a LiDAR camera on iPhone Pro or iPad Pro, and scan room by walking around. The result will be shown as a new Room Arranger project, with walls, doors, windows and other wall openings.
The app can also recognize cabinets, chairs, tables, sofas, and some kitchen and bathroom equipment. You can scan multiple rooms at once.
Tip: After scanning, you can send the project to your laptop or iPad and continue editing on larger screen.
Requirements
You can use the following devices for room scanning:
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (4th generation) and later
- iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) and later
- iPhone 12 Pro and later
- iPhone 12 Pro Max and later
Scanning the Room or Apartment
To start, tap on New / Open project on iPhone Pro or iPad pro. Then select "Scan Room with LiDAR Camera".
iOS provides instructions to walk around the room. Move slowly and try to cover all walls, doors, windows and furniture.
You can also scan multiple rooms at once.
The 3D model of the room is created automatically during scanning, and is visible at the bottom of the screen. When you are done, tap on the "Done" button.
Precision
The precision of the scan depends on the lighting conditions, surface materials, and how carefully you scan the room. You may need to do some manual adjustments afterwards.
Editing of Scanned Floorplan
After the scan is finished, Room Arranger will open the scanned floorplan as a new project. If you are on the iPhone, you can send the project to your laptop or iPad for easier editing. You can edit walls, doors, windows and furniture as usual in Room Arranger.
Send the Project to a Device with Larger Screen
To export the scanned project, tap on the Export button in the top right corner. You can save it to some cloud
service, or send it via email. If you have MacBook, you can also send it there via Share - AirDrop.
