Problems with 3D viewer?
The 3D viewer uses OpenGL technology to present the 3D scene. Unfortunately graphics card manufacturers give preference to implement DirectX (competing technology) on Windows, and their OpenGL drivers are often buggy. As we improve our 3D viewer and add new features, they might unlock a new bug in some graphics card drivers.
Room Arranger detects the case when the GDI Generic driver from Microsoft is being used, which indicates that the proper graphics card driver is not installed.
A. Update graphics card driver
It usually helps. First you need to find the name of the graphics card (chip) used in your computer.
Find out what graphics card you have
There are 3 major manufacturers of graphics cards: Intel, Nvidia, AMD/ATI.
Now go to the respective manufacturer website, and download and install the latest driver for your graphics card.
- Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
- Nvidia: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/
- AMD: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html
If this fails, please report it to us, including the name of your graphics card.
B. Use alternative 3D viewer
If everything fails, you can present 3D in web browser instead of our internal 3D viewer or open it in an external application.
Go to Explore in 3D - Setup (a.k.a. Viewpoints editor
), and in the bottom left corner, select one of the other options for 3D viewing.
- X_ITE is a modern viewer running inside web browser
- X3DOM is another web browser option, but lacks some features compared to X_ITE
- Castle Model Viewer can be installed on the computer, associate x3d files with it, and open 3D in this app
C. Downgrading
Another possibility is to downgrade to a previous version of Room Arranger. See older versions page and select a version with older 3D viewer.
